Watercolors by Brenda Ann

Brenda Ann's serious interest in watercolor began in 2012 while attending workshops with the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. Brenda Ann has served since 2013 as the President of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society and continues to operate her popular art studio in Stone Harbor, where she teaches ceramics, glass fusion and mosaics. She has been involved in numerous judged and juried watercolor exhibitions, including the 2016 Philadelphia Watercolor Society Exhibition at West Chester University, the 2014 Redbone Gallery Exhibition of the FKWCS in Islamorada, 2 of the Key West Art Center Exhibitions of the FKWCS, and 4 of the Annual Judged Shows of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society at the Marathon Community Theatre. Although she enjoys all types of watercolor painting, she is best known for paintings of nostalgic landmarks of the New Jersey seashore and the Florida Keys. She paints many historic places in Key West, Cape May, Stone Harbor and Avalon. Brenda Ann prints and ships professional archival giclee prints of her artwork. These prints evoke fond memories of the friendly, warm and relaxed pace of life in New Jersey, Florida Keys and Key West beach communities. She divides her time between Marathon, Florida and Stone Harbor, New Jersey.

Brenda Ann was born in Pennsylvania. She followed in her family's creative footsteps, making art at a young age and displaying at art fairs. As a teenager, she followed the family to Stone Harbor, NJ where she opened her own art studio to pursue her creative dreams. She currently spends most of her time in Stone Harbor, but enjoys visits to Florida whenever possible. For years, she enjoyed visiting the annual exhibition of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. It was an inspiration to her with the colorful paintings of local Florida Keys wildlife and scenery. She later joined the Society and became their Publicity Chair, assisting with social media and web design. She is honored to be currently serving as the President of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society, a position she has held since 2013. She is also a member of the Garden State Watercolor Society, the New Jersey Water Color Society, the Philadelphia Water Color Society, the American Watercolor Society, and the National Watercolor Society. She has won several awards for her watercolor paintings, including the 2017 People's Choice Award (Tied for First) and the 2017 Rainbow Award (Best Use of Color) for "Key West Butterfly Garden" at the 35th Annual Judged Exhibition of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society, the 2016 Caribbean Award (Most Tropical Painting) for "Captain Tony's Saloon" at the 34th Annual Judged Exhibition of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society, the 2014 3rd Honorable Mention for "Turtles in Paradise" at the 32nd Annual Judged Exhibition of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society, and 2nd Place for "Purple Orchids in Paradise" at the 2014 Redbone Gallery Exhibition of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. Her tropical painting "Sway to the Rhythm" was accepted into the spring 2017 Member Exhibition of the National Watercolor Society in California. She has taken workshops taught by watercolorists Anne Abgott, Lynn Ferris, Kathleen denis, Lian Quan Zhen, Tom Jones, Charles Passarelli, Sean Callahan, and Mel Stabin. Her art is in private homes worldwide.

Artist Statement

Watercolor painting is magical! Every time I paint, I am on a creative adventure, with bright colors to inspire me.

I enjoy the light and shadow that can be created with watercolors. A great watercolor can inspire in so many ways.

I love the challenge of watercolor painting, and I will always strive to learn more while enjoying the journey.
